Hello, I'm Mia
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Berlin, Germany.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a fresh chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Germany wasn't part of the long-term plan. Like many expat relocations, it began as a work opportunity and quickly grew into something much greater.
The first few months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complex than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that worked for us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built Echo Orchard Way
Most information online was either corporate-level relocation advice or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site exists to fill that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Germany.
What This Site Represents (And What It Doesn’t)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from life in Germany
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn’t:
- An official tourism authority resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- Just a generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in Germany carries on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Berlin or anywhere in Germany, don’t hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Mia
